Albert Kemp

Al Kemp was first admitted to the Georgia Bar in January, 1985. After six years of practicing law in the District of Columbia, Al was appointed an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) for the Northern District of Georgia and moved to Atlanta in October, 1983.

Initially assigned to the Civil Division, Al represented the United States and its agencies in the prosecution and defense of matters pending before the United States Bankruptcy Court, the federal district courts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

In December, 1988, Al was appointed chief of the Asset Forfeiture Unit, where he represented the United States and supervised other AUSAs in their representation of the United States in judicial forfeiture actions premised upon, among others, violations of federal narcotic and money laundering statutes.

In April, 1999, Al was appointed the criminal health care fraud coordinator for the Northern District of Georgia and, in that position, Al prosecuted, and coordinated the prosecution by other AUSAs, cases premised upon criminal violations of federal laws covering false statements, mail fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering that affect federal health care programs.

In October, 2004, Al retired from federal service and entered the private practice of law.
